Sea Fishing Predictions - November 2013

E-mail Print

BOAT - Poole boats will find plenty of conger, ray, pollack and perhaps an early double-figure cod with whiting starting to show from the edge of the Dolphin Bank and Poole Bay. Inshore reefs will remain on top form for pollack, conger, good wrasse and pout with a small chance of a spurdog on the rips. Dingy anglers can have some fun locating flounder in the Swash Channel with a few eels, bass and the odd plaice. Rays will be active off Swanage, where there are good launching facilities for small-boat enthusiast. Marks between the Stennis Ledge and M2 will continue to produce mixed bags while blonde rays filtering in off the Kidney Bank.   Whiting will show over the Shambles along with a few flatfish and the occasional codling. Dogfish and pouting will be ever present on the Adamant Bank whilst the inshore reefs will see plenty of conger eel and some quality bull huss. Small boat anglers fishing around Weymouth will see some excellent bass provide explosive sport over the Race.

SHORE - Bournemouth Pier should fish well for garfish, pout and a few flatfish whilst at Southbourne sole with a few flounder will be taken at night.   Flounder again will be targeted from the higher reaches of Poole harbour. Good numbers of bass will be on the cards from the open beaches in rough conditions. Crab and worm take the bigger fish. Stacks of pout, a few sole, garfish, pollack and ballan wrasse around Hengistbury Head. Christchurch harbour will be quiet as mullet depart but there is still a chance for a big autumn fish at Mudeford Quay on an early morning low water tide. Abbotsbury and West Bexington should start producing very good sport with whiting and codling showing from mid-month. This is also a good time for late sole after dark landed on worm bait at Burton Bradstock and Cogden. Expect some codling, dogfish and pout from the Bridging Camp and Boundary Stone areas of Chesil Beach where whiting to specimen size will provide great sport for match anglers. Portland rock marks will provide superb wrasse action to velvet swimming crab, the ace bait.
